On the islands near Kherson, Russian troops have intensified attempts to land and set up positions, while also increasing the mining of the Dnipro's shoreline and infrastructure. At the same time, Ukraine's Defense Forces are disrupting these attempts and destroying the enemy.

The spokesperson for Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, reported this on television, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

"Russians are quite active on Kruglyi Island, trying to land there and establish observation posts. On Bilohrudyi  Island, two combat clashes have been recorded, as the Russians are crossing into its eastern part, but we are destroying them and not allowing this," the spokesperson said.

In addition, according to him, Russian forces are actively operating near the Antonivskyi road and railway bridges, as this is one of the narrowest sections of the Dnipro in that area.

"If they take positions there, they will be able to deploy various types of weapons and strike Kherson and the right bank," Voloshyn explained.

He added that the Russians fear Ukraine's Defense Forces may attempt operations to cross the Dnipro and seize the island zone, so they are actively mining and installing various explosive barriers, particularly in channels and on the left bank.

"From Nova Kakhovka downstream, they have built many different tunnels. These are already kilometers of tunnels where their positions are dug into the ground and where they move around; we are striking them," the spokesperson added.

As Ukrinform reported, over the past day, April 29, on the Prydniprovskyi axis, Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled four enemy assaults near the Antonivskyi Bridge and Bilohrudyi  Island.
