Russian drone hits commercial ship flying Liberian flag

Russian forces targeted a commercial ship that was traveling along a maritime corridor to load grain.

The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"The enemy continues to attack civilian maritime logistics in the Odesa region. A Russian drone struck a civilian merchant vessel flying the Liberian flag that was heading along the maritime corridor to load corn," the statement said.

According to the ministry, the fire was quickly extinguished by the crew. No one was injured. The vessel continued its journey and reached the port.

Despite ongoing attacks, port operations remain stable. Emergency repair work is ongoing at the sites. Ukraine continues to ensure the functioning of the maritime corridor and the fulfillment of export obligations.

As previously reported, on the night of April 14, Russian drones attacked civilian and port infrastructure in the south of the Odesa region. In the Izmail port area, a civilian vessel flying the flag of Panama, a pier, a barge, and port equipment were damaged.
