Without the experience of the Ukrainian army, it will be difficult for Europe to build an effective defense sysonly a high-tech approach focused on saving soldiers’ lives will work against an intem, and vasion by Russian infantry.

This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by the head of Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, Colonel Linas Idzelis.

“It’s only the Ukrainian military who know how to really fight the Russians, how to defend against professional units like the Rubicon drone operators. Defending Europe without Ukrainian troops would be very difficult,” Idzelis emphasized.

In his opinion, sooner or later, “everybody understands that without a battle-proven Ukrainian army, there’s no future for Europe.”

He also believes that some European countries’ preparations for a potential military conflict on the scale of World War II are the wrong strategy.

“There are two schools of warfare – one I call “Mosfilm” and another is “Hollywood”. Mosfilm is about sending waves of infantry to the war grinder to die, and families keep receiving death notices and perhaps a posthumous medal. But I prefer Hollywood – with extensive minefields and drone operators deployed far from the line of contact,” Idzelis explained, adding that, in his view, the future belongs to the Western school of warfare, with the subsequent “robotization, dronization of warfare.”

“After all, the West is rich, so it can afford it. What’s still missing is the military industrial capacities, but since we now have increased defense budgets, it’s just a matter of time,” Idzelis noted.

He also called on European politicians to move from constant discussions to action.

“Europe needs to move from constant discussion to action. Since the large-scale invasion, there have been discussions. Only when Donald Trump came to power did Europeans start feeling anxious, investing more in defense. There are now many governmental pledges, orders to military factories, new production lines are being built, and I think they will take some know-how from Ukraine, including deep and mid-strike drones, as well as interceptors against modernized drones, which now fly at higher speeds and higher altitudes, mash technology, cameras installed, better e-warfare resistance, etc.,” the colonel explained.

He noted that he frequently visits Ukraine, touring military headquarters and units, where he has also seen representatives from the United Kingdom.

“I understand that the Brits are really preparing and taking things very seriously. I’m no judge to assess readiness in European countries, but definitely, it’s best if someone starts a real transformation and serves as an example for others, leading the way,” he emphasized.

“The West needs to have a plan to bury all Russian invaders, 100 percent of them,”  Idzelis stressed.

As reported by Ukrinform, Colonel Linas Idzelis stated that the European Union must more actively support Ukraine, because allowing Russia to win on the battlefield would lead to a further attack on European countries with the forced mobilization of Ukrainian resources.
