Ukrainian forces to focus on strategic defense and counteroffensives on 'weak' fronts –Syrskyi
Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said this in an interview with ICTV, according to Ukrinform.
"Our goal this year is, of course, to conduct a strategic defensive operation to contain the enemy, prevent territorial losses, exhaust their forces and resources, create conditions for large-scale offensive operations, build up our reserves, ensure high-quality training of servicemen, and simultaneously carry out counteroffensive and offensive operations on fronts where the enemy is weak," Syrskyi said.
He stressed that these measures aim both to liberate territory and to maintain operational and strategic initiative.
Syrskyi noted that the enemy is currently being forced to play by Ukraine's rules, adapting and concentrating its efforts where Ukrainian forces advance.
