From 'Bastions' to railways: Pletenchuk speaks about Armed Forces' 'target bank' in Crimea and southern regions
Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, stated this on television, Ukrinform reports.
"The main supply logistics route is the railway running through the occupied territories of southern Ukraine. Over the past week, we have seen strikes on this logistics chain – the main channel to Crimea. There is also a military grouping in Crimea, because it remains de jure their main naval base. Accordingly, there are deployment points for various drones there, which we also periodically destroy, including operational-tactical ones used for reconnaissance and strikes. There are also airfields, and all of this needs to be supplied. But the main logistical route runs through the territory of Ukraine. Therefore, what is struck in the south can directly affect the execution of tasks in Crimea," Pletenchuk said.
At the same time, according to him, the enemy grouping in Crimea remains an important target for attacks by the Defense Forces.
"One way or another, there is an entire 'target bank,' and it is not small. This includes strikes on 'Bastion' systems that launch 'Zircon' missiles. Another priority target is the 'Iskander' systems, which periodically strike deep into Ukrainian territory, as unfortunately happened the previous day in the Odesa region with ballistic missiles," Pletenchuk noted.
As Ukrinform reported, recently in Crimea a coastal missile system "Bastion," which the enemy had used to strike Ukrainian territory, was hit for the first time.
