Defense Forces strike Russian icebreaker in Leningrad region

Ukraine's Defense Forces hit a Russian combat icebreaker at the Vyborg Shipyard in the Leningrad region.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook.

During a joint operation by Ukraine's Defense Forces in the Leningrad region on the night of March 25, a vessel belonging to Russian forces was struck at the Vyborg Shipyard.

According to preliminary information, the target was the patrol icebreaker "Purga" of Project 23550, which had been intended for service with Russia's FSB Border Service. Such vessels are designed to perform both icebreaking and military functions.

As previously reported, a fire broke out in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region following a drone attack.
