Poland scrambles fighter jets over Russian missile strikes on Ukraine
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced this on X, Ukrinform reports.
"Due to the activity of long-range Russian air forces conducting strikes on Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied air forces have begun operating in our airspace. In accordance with applicable procedures, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has activated the necessary forces and resources at its disposal. The on-duty fighter pair and early warning aircraft have been scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest level of alert," the statement said.
These measures are preventive and aimed at securing and protecting airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to zones under threat.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said it was monitoring the situation, and subordinated forces and resources remain fully prepared for immediate response.
As Ukrinform reported, a massive Russian aerial attack on the Poltava community caused casualties and damage to residential buildings and a hotel.
Russian forces carried out another combined attack on Ukraine using strike drones and cruise missiles, prompting air raid alerts in most regions.
