Russian forces make no significant gains near Krasnopillia community in Sumy region – SBGS

Russian troops have not achieved significant progress toward the Krasnopillia community, including the village of Pokrovka, despite repeated attempts since last year.

That is according to Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service (SBGS), Ukrinform reports.

"The direction of Pokrovka is one of the areas where Russian forces have been trying to expand their control. This has not happened in a week or a month – it has been ongoing since last year. They actively shelled the village in an attempt to destroy it and later deployed small assault groups, but the enemy has not achieved any meaningful results in this direction. At the same time, manipulations and claims of so-called 'victories' in capturing territory are being refuted by our Defense Forces," Demchenko said.

When asked where along the front, within the areas held by the State Border Guard Service, the enemy is most active, Demchenko noted that Russian forces are active near the Krasnopillia community, including Pokrovka.

"In this area, particularly in Hrabovske, the enemy was able to enter because it is located along the state border. However, they cannot advance beyond this village or achieve any success. Recently, to expand their positions, the enemy attempted attacks from another border sector toward Riasne, located beyond Hrabovske, targeting our troops. They used heavy strike systems and carried out massive attacks intended to destroy our positions. Even after these actions, the enemy could not consolidate and was pushed back across the state border," he said.

Demchenko added that in the Sumy region, near Myropillia, there have also been recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian positions, but these have not yielded results for the invaders. He noted that while the enemy is not deploying "very large" forces in the Sumy region, they are capable of regrouping.

He also added that positions of border units near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region have recently come under Russian attacks.

Earlier reports said that Pokrovka remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and claims on Russian resources of its capture are false.
