The Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized the Ukrainian-made unmanned aerial system JEDI Shahed Hunter for operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Ukrinfrom, the Ministry of Defense stated this on its website.

“The high-speed interceptor drones within this system successfully destroy Russian Shahed-type attack drones, including Geran and Gerbera. They can also intercept reconnaissance UAVs such as Zala and Supercam,” the article reads.

The JEDI Shahed Hunter is a copter-type aerial drone with vertical takeoff capability. It is equipped with a lightweight and durable frame, four high-performance electric motors, and a high-capacity battery.

With a total weight of just over 4 kg, the drone can carry up to 500 grams of payload, sufficient to destroy an attack drone. Its motors are powerful enough to accelerate it to speeds exceeding 350 km/h and reach altitudes of up to 6 km.

The system receives data from radar stations automatically, allowing interceptor drones to quickly enter the target area and eliminate threats оперативно.

Flight coordination, stable communication, and targeting accuracy are ensured by a ground control station.

The JEDI Shahed Hunter can automatically lock onto and track targets. It is also equipped with both daytime and thermal imaging cameras, enabling operations both day and night.

Thanks to its capabilities, the system can protect the airspace from enemy drones within a radius of up to 40 km.

The Ministry of Defense noted that protecting the skies is a top priority of Ukraine’s war plan, with the goal of identifying 100% of aerial threats in real time and intercepting at least 95% of missiles and drones.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the Ministry of Defense also codified and approved the Ukrainian-made strike quadcopter Ptashka for use in the Armed Forces.
