Russia attacks Naftogaz facilities in Poltava and Sumy regions overnight

On the night of March 20, Russian forces struck oil and gas facilities of the Naftogaz Group, with drone attacks hitting several assets in the Poltava and Sumy regions.

According to Ukrinform, Naftogaz Group stated this on its website.

The company stated that the attack caused destruction. A fire broke out at one of the facilities but was quickly extinguished.

Serhii Koretskyi, head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, said that there was damage and that, thanks to the professional actions of the State Emergency Service and company specialists, the fire at one of the sites was promptly put out. He added that the equipment had been shut down and damage assessment was ongoing.

At the time of the attack, personnel were in shelters, so no casualties were reported. The company emphasized that this was already more than the 30th targeted attack on the Naftogaz Group's critical infrastructure since the beginning of the year.

As reported, Russian forces have been attacking oil pumping stations in southern Ukraine in order to prevent alternative supplies of non-Russian oil to Europe.
