National Guard forms regiments of unmanned systems and air defense, Klymenko signs order
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“Today, I signed an order to form the following units within the National Guard of Ukraine: unmanned systems regiments; assault regiments; a separate airspace protection regiment,” Klymenko said.
According to him, the goal of this step is to strengthen units' capabilities on the battlefield, scale up the use of modern technologies, and increase the effectiveness of countering air threats.
The minister recalled that a significant part of the Interior Ministry's units are directly performing combat tasks on the front lines. According to him, the leadership constantly analyzes their use, changes in combat operations, and war experience to increase effectiveness.
“This approach has already yielded results. In particular, the corps reform in the structure of the Defense Forces, carried out last year, is proving its effectiveness during combat operations,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Klymenko assured that the ministry will continue to scale up combat experience and technological solutions to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and increase the effectiveness of combat missions.
As reported by Ukrinform, in April 2025, the National Guard created two corps, each headed by the commander of an Azov or Khartiia brigade.
