The town of Krynychne in the Zaporizhzhia region is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, despite statements on Russian media about its alleged capture.

This was announced on a television broadcast by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesman for the Operation Task Force South, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“I want to refute this information [on Russian media outlets], because Krynychne is under our control,” Voloshyn said.

According to the spokesman, statements circulating in Russian public media about the alleged capture of the settlement are not true, since Krynychne is located west of Sviatopetrivka and Staroukrainka, and to advance into this area, the enemy would have to overcome Ukrainian defenses.

“Over the past day, we have carried out more than 20 search-and-strike and counter-sabotage operations, destroying enemy infiltration groups and assault groups that tried to penetrate deep into our defenses, and we also carried out counterattacks, refuting Russian claims that they had captured some territories,” he emphasized.

Voloshyn added that Ukrainian units are reducing the so-called gray zone and acting preemptively.

“In some cases, we are acting preemptively, and in some areas of the line of contact, the enemy thinks that we have organized some kind of counteroffensive, but these are our actions, which are coordinated to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into our territory,” the spokesman emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, 237 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front line over the past day, February 18.
