Drones struck the Metafrax Chemicals plant in Russia’s Perm region on Tuesday, February 17.

According to Ukrinform, the Telegram channel ASTRA reported this.

The drones hit the chemical facility in the town of Gubakha, causing a fire.

Earlier, ASTRA, citing a subscriber and reports from local residents on social media, said that at least four drones targeted the Metafrax Chemicals plant, prompting a blaze. Employees were sent to bomb shelters.

The regional governor, Dmitry Makhonin, confirmed only that “enemy drones were recorded in the territory of the Perm region.” He added that no one was injured and that residents were not at risk.

The Metafrax Chemicals plant in Gubakha is the main enterprise of the Metafrax Group chemical holding. The plant specializes in the production of chemicals, including methanol, formalin, synthetic resins, and other organic compounds.

Some of the plant’s products, such as hexamine, methanol, urotropine, and pentaerythritol, are important components for explosives and military applications.

As previously reported, drones also struck the Metafrax plant in Russia’s Perm region in September, damaging a gas pipeline, a workshop, and the fire station, according to ASTRA sources.

Metafrax Group is under sanctions by the United Kingdom and Ukraine due to its involvement in Russia’s defense sector.

Earlier on February 17, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.
