Russian forces continue to shell civilian railway infrastructure, with the main focus of the attacks on northern regions of Ukraine.

This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba during a coordination call with the President, Ukrinform says.

“Russia continues targeted strikes against civilian railway infrastructure. Currently, the main focus of the attacks is northern Ukraine – the Chernihiv and Sumy regions,” the statement said.

According to Kuleba, at the station of Konotop an enemy UAV struck a locomotive that was supposed to be coupled to a passenger train. Near the Tereshchenska station in the Sumy region, railway tracks were damaged, and train traffic was temporarily restricted to allow for repairs.

In addition, a drone hit a service vehicle carrying railway workers to a track repair site. One worker was wounded and hospitalized with shrapnel injuries, while the other members of the crew were safely evacuated.

In the Chernihiv region, a diesel train was hit at the Snovsk station. The resulting fire was promptly extinguished.

Restoration work is currently underway at all affected locations, and train traffic is being maintained.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reported on efforts to address emergency situations in the residential sector of the capital. According to him, 176 emergency repair crews of 840 specialists have been deployed, including 83 crews from Ukrzaliznytsia and specialists from other regions.

At the same time, efforts are ongoing to strengthen cogeneration and expand alternative power sources. In recent weeks, together with international partners and the government, energy equipment with a total capacity of nearly 100 MW has been delivered to communities.
