Russian drone attacks evacuation vehicle in Beryslav: One killed, several injured
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin.
“In Beryslav, Russian forces attacked an evacuation vehicle with drones. Volunteers who were rescuing people from deadly danger came under enemy fire. Their vehicle burned down after being hit by the drones,” Prokudin wrote.
He said that since February 4, volunteers and local residents had been unable to evacuate due to the constant threat of Russian drone strikes.
“Only today, thanks to the tremendous efforts of our military, they were able to be rescued. The volunteers and four residents were evacuated to a safer community, three of them wounded. All of them are currently under medical supervision,” he added.
Prokudin emphasized that as a result of the drone strike on the vehicle, a man born in 1982 sustained fatal injuries. The regional chief expressed his sincere condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.
“I ask you to understand something important: when you delay evacuation from dangerous areas, you do not only put your own life at mortal risk, but also the lives of those who later come to rescue you from the very hell of war,” he stressed.
He also urged residents of the so-called “red zone” not to delay evacuation and to contact the regional contact center to submit evacuation requests.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Russian forces shelled a medical facility in Kherson’s Dniprovskyi district earlier that morning.
