War update: 44 clashes on front lines since midnight, Pokrovsk, Huliaipole sectors hottest
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced this on Facebook, releasing an operational update as of 16:00 on Sunday, February 1, Ukrinform reports.
Russian artillery struck areas in a number of settlements today, including Senkivka in the Chernihiv region, and Brusky, Rohizne, Bachivsk, Neskuchne, Kucherivka, Bezsalivka, Malushyne and Ryzhivka in the Sumy region.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the invaders shelled populated areas and Ukrainian military positions 41 times, including once with multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian troops carried out three attacks toward Prylipka, Vilcha and Kutkivka. Two clashes are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces have not conducted offensive operations so far today.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy attack toward Novoserhiivka.
In the Sloviansk sector, the Russian army attempted to advance on Ukrainian positions toward Zakitne but was repelled.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy has not launched offensive actions so far today.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian troops conducted six offensive actions near Kostiantynivka, Stepanivka, Yablunivka and Sofiivka. One engagement is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, since the beginning of the day, the invaders have made 17 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Novopidhorodnie and Dachne, and toward Vilne and Serhiivka. Ukrainian forces are holding back the pressure, with 15 enemy attacks already repelled.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the Russian army launched one attack near Verbove.
In the Huliaipole sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 Russian attacks near Huliaipole and toward Zelene, Sviatopetrivka and Zaliznychne. Five clashes are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv and Dnipro River sectors, the enemy has not conducted offensive operations so far today.
The situation in other sectors of the front has not changed significantly.
