Lviv preparing for emergency situation amid possible Russian attack during severe frost

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

He noted that meteorologists are forecasting severe frost for the coming weekend, which could be stronger than the previous cold spell.

“Our enemy is such that it may take advantage of this and attempt to strike the critical infrastructure of our cities,” Sadovyi said.

Therefore, Lviv has entered a state of emergency preparedness, the mayor reported.

“All municipal services know what to do. However, it is important that city residents are also prepared,” he emphasized.

Sadovyi urged residents to check the shelters they plan to use during air raid alerts, charge power banks and charging stations – while not leaving them unattended during charging – and prepare a basic supply of food, drinking water, and medications.

In addition, the Mayor called on residents to find out whether there are people with disabilities who cannot move independently, or elderly residents living in their building, and to report such cases to the city’s hotline.

Sadovyi stressed that people should trust only official sources of information.

The Mayor added that if a building is left without electricity or heating, information about the nearest “points of invincibility” and all available services will be posted in the building’s entrance area and in the building’s chat. He emphasized that the city has already taken care of this.

Sadovyi also stressed that in the event of a temporary shutdown of heating, residents should not drain water from radiators until a separate notification is issued by the person responsible for the building.
