Over 200 children remain in Mykolaivka in Donetsk region
That is according to the Communications Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
"More than 200 children remain in Mykolaivka in the Donetsk region: the 'White Angels' crew continues evacuating families. The situation in Mykolaivka has worsened. Russian troops are continuously attacking residential areas with bombs and strike drones, and all access routes to the city are under enemy fire," the National Police said.
Access to the city is possible only by armored vehicles and with anti-drone equipment.
Local residents say that drones frequently fly in and open fire on vehicles.
Law enforcement officials reported that the situation is particularly tense on the outskirts, where a private residential area has been almost completely destroyed.
"Under these conditions, evacuation is the only way to save lives. This time, the 'White Angels,' together with Kostiantynivka police, evacuated eight people from the city, including three girls aged 10, 12, and 17. The youngest brought along her pet cat, Anfisa," the National Police said.
All evacuees were transported by police to a safe location. Volunteers will later help them reach other regions of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers reminded parents of their responsibility for the lives and health of their children.
Police urged anyone in need of assistance with evacuation to call 102.
