War update: 105 combat engagements on front line over past day, Pokrovsk, Huliaipole sectors most active

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this in a Facebook update as of 08:00 on Wednesday, January 28.

The enemy carried out 92 air strikes, dropping 275 guided aerial bombs. The Russians also used 7,915 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,903 shelling attacks, including 61 from multiple launch rocket systems.

The Russian army struck with guided aerial bombs at Velykomykhailivka and Orly in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as Zirnytsia, Zaliznychne, Verkhnia Tersa, Nizhenka, Rozivka, Vozdvyzhivka, Charivne, Odarivka, Tavriiske, and Zhovta Krucha in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces struck three areas of concentration of enemy personnel and four Russian command posts.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out 77 shelling attacks.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction, Russian forces launched three assaults in the areas of Prylipka and Vovchanski Khutory.

In the Kupiansk direction, three enemy attacks were recorded. The Defense Forces repelled assault actions toward Kupiansk and Petropavlivka.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked four times, attempting to advance in the areas of Drobyshcheve and Torske and toward Novoserhiivka.

In the Sloviansk direction, near Fedorivka and toward Platonivka, the invaders attacked three times.

In the Kramatorsk direction, one combat engagement was recorded toward Bondarne.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 11 attacks in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Kleban-Byk, Shcherbynivka, Sofiivka, and toward Stepanivka and Novopavlivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 32 assault and offensive actions by Russian forces in the areas of Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and toward Filiia, Bilytske, and Hryshyne.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy attacked six times in the areas of Verbove, Zlahoda, and toward New Zaporizhzhia.

In the Huliaipole direction, Russian troops attempted to advance 22 times in the areas of Solodke, Huliaipole, and Dorozhnianka, and toward Dobropillia and Zelene.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one attack near Plavni.

In the Prydniprovske direction, the enemy made one unsuccessful advance attempt.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of Russian offensive groupings being formed were detected.

As Ukrinform previously reported, total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, from February 24, 2022, to January 28, 2026, amount to approximately 1,236,570 personnel.
