Russians strike passenger train in Kharkiv region with drones, injuries reported

This was reported on Telegram by Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, as relayed by Ukrinform.

“Russia struck a passenger train in the Kharkiv region on the Barvinkove – Lviv – Chop route. According to preliminary information, the enemy attacked with three Shahed-type drones,” the statement said.

The strikes hit just ahead of the locomotive and into a passenger car, causing a fire. At the time, 291 passengers were on board. People were evacuated as quickly as possible.

Currently, two passengers have been reported injured. They were assisted by train staff and transferred to an ambulance. Both have been hospitalized.

For evacuated passengers and those waiting at stations for the return trip, backup buses have been organized. All emergency services are on-site, including medics, rescuers, and the Ukrzaliznytsia team.

As previously reported, in the area of the village of Hrabovske, Sumy region, on January 27, 2026, Russian forces deliberately attacked with FPV drones, killing two people who were trying to evacuate from occupied territory.
