This was reported by Belsat, according to Ukrinform.
His wife, Veronika Yanovych, announced his death on January 21.
Oleksii Lazarev
“My world, my dear husband Oleksii Lazarev, has died. At the beginning of 2025, he returned to service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defended the sky with dignity,” Veronika wrote.
It is noted that after getting married in the spring of 2022, the couple voluntarily joined the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment. Later, Oleksii joined the 225th Separate Assault Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He left the Ukrainian army but later returned.
Before the full-scale war in Ukraine, Oleksii was a software engineer and was also involved in Belarusian politics. In 2019, he became one of the youngest candidates in the parliamentary elections. He actively participated in protests against the results of the 2020 elections and helped observers at polling stations in Minsk. Due to the threat of imprisonment, he left Belarus. He lived in Georgia, then moved to Lviv, Ukraine.
Nasha Niva states that the deceased soldier was 27 years old.
The soldier's funeral will take place in Lviv.
There is no official data on casualties among Belarusian military volunteers defending Ukraine. According to media estimates, at least 65 Belarusians fighting on the side of Ukraine have been killed since the start of the full-scale war.
As reported by Ukrinform, last year the Belarusian Investigative Committee issued arrest warrants for 125 people associated with the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, which is fighting as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and five leaders of the regiment were sentenced in absentia to 12 to 20 years in a special colony.
