War update: 164 combat engagements on front line

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook, updating  the situation as of 08:00 on Saturday, January 17.

The enemy carried out 71 airstrikes, dropping 189 glide bombs. In addition, Russian forces conducted 3,644 shelling attacks, including 49 from multiple launch rocket systems, and employed 7,621 loitering munitions.

The Russian army carried out airstrikes on the areas of the settlements of Zaliznychne, Ternuvate, Rizdvianka, Liubytske, and Verkhna Tersa in Zaporizhzhia region.

Aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck six areas of concentration of enemy personnel and equipment, as well as an ammunition depot of the Russian invaders.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attacks. The enemy carried out three airstrikes, dropping three glide bombs, and conducted 118 shelling attacks, including nine from MLRS.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian troops stopped 12 enemy attacks in the areas of Starytsia, Prylipka, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Chuhunivka, Ambarnе, Dehtiarnе, and toward Kruhlyi.

In the Kupiansk sector, two enemy attacks occurred. Defense Forces repelled assault actions toward Petropavlivka.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces attacked four times, attempting to break into the defenses in the areas of Novovodianе, Kolodiazi, and toward Dibrova.

In the Sloviansk sector, the Defense Forces repelled two attacks near Dronivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the invaders attacked once toward Minkivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, the enemy carried out 18 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Sofiivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 49 assault actions by the Russian army in the areas of Shakhove, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and toward Filiia.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy carried out five attacks in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Oleksiivka, Stepove, and Krasnohirskе.

In the Huliaipole sector, the Defense Forces repelled 31 Russian attacks in the areas of Solodke, Huliaipole, Dorozhnianka, Zelene, and toward Varvarivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian troops attempted to break through the defenses six times in the areas of Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, and Shcherbaky.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of enemy offensive group formations were detected.

As Ukrinform previously reported, total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, from February 24, 2022 to January 17, 2026, amount to approximately 1,225,590 personnel, including 1,130 over the past day.
