Drones attack TogliattiAzot Plant, Oryol Thermal Power Plant in Russia – media

On the night of Friday, December 19, a group of drones attacked a number of sites on Russian territory, including the chemical company TogliattiAzot in Russia’s Samara region.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the ASTRA Telegram channel.

According to local residents, drones struck the TogliattiAzot (TOAZ) plant in the city of Togliatti, Samara region. The facility is reportedly on fire, and the road leading to the plant has been blocked.

The TogliattiAzot is a Russian chemical company and one of the world’s ten largest producers of ammonia.

ASTRA also reported a nighttime attack on the Oryol Thermal Power Plant.

“The Oryol Thermal Power Plant was attacked last night, local residents report. … Damage was sustained to a municipal infrastructure facility in the city of Oryol. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. Emergency repair crews are carrying out repair work, and short-term restrictions on heat supply, power supply, and hot water are possible in the Sovetsky district of Oryol,” Governor Andrey Klychkov wrote.

Meanwhile, the governor of Russia’s Rostov region said that electricity supply was partially disrupted in Rostov and several hamlets as a result of a drone attack.

The BBC Russian service noted that the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that “94 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down overnight.”

As reported by Ukrinform, a group of drones carried out attacks in several Russian cities on the night of Thursday, December 18; in particular, a tanker caught fire in Rostov-on-Don.
