War update: 87 clashes on frontline, Pokrovsk direction remains most active

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook, publishing operational information as of 16:00 on Wednesday, December 17, Ukrinform reports.

Russian artillery once again shelled border settlements today, including Ryzhivka, Neskuchne, Sydorivka, and Volfyne in the Sumy region.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, three combat engagements have occurred since the start of the day. In these areas, the invaders have already shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements 60 times, including seven times with multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four Russian attacks near Lyman, Odradne, and Dovhenke, toward Izbytske. One more engagement is ongoing.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy has not conducted offensive actions today.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions seven times near Novovodiane, Kolodiazi, Drobysheve, and Novoselivka, toward Cherneshchyna. One battle is ongoing.

In the Sloviansk sector, the invaders were active in the areas of Serebrianka, Siversk, and Pereizne. Three of their attacks have been repelled so far, and one engagement is ongoing.

No combat engagements have been recorded today in the Kramatorsk sector.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian troops carried out 14 assault actions in the areas of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Klebana-Byk, Pleshchiivka, and Rusyn Yar, toward Kostiantynivka and Sofiivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the enemy made 31 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Shakhove, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Dachne, toward Novopavlivka. The defenders are holding back the pressure: 23 attacks have already been repelled, while fighting continues in eight locations.

In the Oleksandrohrad sector, Russian forces attempted to break through defenses near Oleksandrohrad, Sosnivka, Solodke, Pryvilne, and Krasnohirsk, toward Dobropillia. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled five assaults, while four engagements are ongoing.

Enemy aircraft carried out strikes on Pidhavrylivka and Bratske.

In the Huliaipole sector, defenders repelled six Russian attacks near Huliaipole and toward Varvarivka. Two more engagements are ongoing.

Enemy airstrikes also hit Sviatopetrivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian troops attempted to advance twice near Plavni. Guided aerial bombs were used to strike civilian objects in Zaporizhzhia and Kushuhum.

In the Prydniprovske sector, no combat engagements have been recorded today.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukrainian defenders are eliminating Russian assault groups that managed to infiltrate toward Siversk under unfavorable weather conditions.
