Zelensky confirms use of Sapsan ballistic missile
The President said this while responding to questions from journalists, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Ukraine is already using the Neptun, the long-range Neptun, the Palianytsia, the Flamingo. And also, the Sapsan, I’ll be honest – we’ve begun using it,” Zelensky said, adding that he deliberately would not disclose how many such weapons have been deployed.
“Because for now we don’t want the enemy to know all the precedents and all the details,” he explained.
Zelensky also noted that the Neptun systems are performing very effectively. “But there are many cases when our enemy believes a strike was carried out with a Neptun… And let them continue thinking that,” he added.
As reported, the Flamingo missile was used in combat for the first time in May this year, according to the General Staff.
Ukraine’s Sapsan ballistic missile had been known internationally as early as 2016. At the time, Saudi Arabia had considered purchasing it, but production was never completed due to strong Kremlin lobbying.
