Suspect in Nord Stream sabotage extradited to Germany
This was reported to Ukrinform by the Office of the Federal Prosecutor General in Karlsruhe.
The individual is referred to as the defendant.
“The defendant was extradited from Italy today. Tomorrow he is scheduled to appear before an investigative judge of the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe,” court spokesperson Ines Petersen reported.
According to earlier statements, German prosecutors accuse Serhii K. (Serhii Kuznetsov) of belonging to a group that placed explosive devices on the pipelines near the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. He has been charged with conspiracy to carry out an explosion, anti-constitutional sabotage, and destruction of critical infrastructure. The suspect denies all accusations.
He was detained in Italy in August under a European arrest warrant.
On November 20, the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation approved his extradition to Germany.
