Saratov oil refinery in Russia shuts down after Ukrainian drone attacks - Reuters
Two industry sources told Reuters about this on Friday, Ukrinform reports.
According to the agency's interlocutors, the plant may remain shut down until the end of the month.
The sources noted that the crude oil distillation unit, KDU-6, the plant's only primary processing unit, may have been damaged by air strikes. Its nominal daily capacity was about 20,000 tons, or 147,000 barrels of oil.
In 2024, the Saratov refinery processed 5.8 million tons of oil, accounting for about 2.2% of Russia's total oil processing volume. It produced 1.9 million tons of diesel fuel, 1.2 million tons of gasoline, and 1 million tons of fuel oil, Reuters reports.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Saratov refinery was hit by drones on November 11 and November 14. After the last attack, explosions followed by fires were recorded on the territory of the facility.
On November 6, the Volhohrad oil refinery of Russian oil giant Lukoil stopped working after being hit by Ukrainian drones.
