Sweden halts airport traffic due to detected drones

On Thursday, air traffic at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport on Sweden's west coast was suspended after drones were spotted in the area.

According to Ukrinform, media outlet Reuters reported this in an article.

"A drone or drones have been observed at Landvetter Airport," a spokesperson at civil aviation agency LFV said.

A police spokesperson said police received a report of suspected drone sightings by several individuals at 16:41 GMT and were at the scene gathering information, trying to confirm the report.

According to the airport operator Swedavia, this facility is Sweden's second largest airport after Stockholm Arlanda Airport in the capital.

"The airspace above Landvetter is currently closed due to indications of a suspected drone," Swedavia Chief Operating Officer Susanne Norman said. "The airspace will remain closed while the police investigate."

As Ukrinform reported, on Wednesday evening, operations at Hannover Airport in Germany's Lower Saxony state were also temporarily halted due to a drone.
