An explosion occurred at a petrochemical plant in the city of Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan.

That is according to the Telegram channel Astra, Ukrinform reports.

"Footage shows the moment of the explosion at the Sterlitamak petrochemical plant. The city mayor said that 'the causes are being investigated,'" the report said.

A drone threat alert had been issued in the region earlier in the morning.

Reports mention two explosions.
