Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups activity on border decreases, but threat remains – Demchenko

A decrease in the activity of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups has been observed along the Ukrainian-Russian border. At the same time, the Defense Forces continue to record isolated attempts by the enemy to infiltrate, particularly in the Sumy region.

According to Ukrinform, Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported this on a television broadcast.

“Speaking about the direct line of the border and enemy actions when attempting to cross it, fortunately, the activity of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups has somewhat decreased recently. It has not disappeared entirely, but the number of such infiltration attempts has dropped significantly,” Demchenko noted.

At the same time, he assured that all components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine are actively countering attempts by enemy saboteurs to penetrate Ukrainian territory — monitoring their movements and engaging them when such groups are detected. He also emphasized that enemy activity by small infantry groups within the Khotin and Yunakivka communities of the Sumy region has considerably decreased.

“Within the Sumy region, namely in the Khotin and Yunakivka communities, enemy activity by small infantry groups has significantly declined. However, the enemy periodically attempts such assaults in an effort to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory but suffers heavy losses,” Demchenko said.

As reported by Ukrinform, 162 combat engagements occurred between the Defense Forces of Ukraine and Russian troops over the past day, with the enemy exerting the most pressure in the Pokrovsk sector.
