Defense Forces destroy one of three Oreshnik missiles on Russian territory — Maliuk

The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine announced this during a briefing, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

"We have never mentioned this before, but we can briefly say that one of the three Oreshnik missiles was successfully destroyed on their territory, in Kapustin Yar, by the forces of the DIU [Defense Intelligence of Ukraine of the Ministry of Defense], the SSU, and the FIS [Foreign Intelligence Service]," he said.

Maluk assured that “the destruction was 100%.” He noted that this operation was not publicized in any way, and only the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the President of Ukraine, was informed about the destruction of Oreshnik. Also, according to the Head of the SSU, several presidents of other countries knew about it.

“This was at a time when the name Oreshnik was not yet widely known or used, and the Russians were not yet posing a particular threat with it. If I am not mistaken, we carried out this successful operation the summer before last [summer of 2023],” he added.

According to Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in June that 21 of the 39 Russian companies that produce Oreshnik ballistic missiles are still not under sanctions.
