Ukrinform
In the temporarily occupied part of the Luhansk region, power supply has been cut off, reportedly due to serious damage at the only thermal power plant in the so-called Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), located in the city of Shchastia.

Independent Russian outlet Astra reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"Electricity has gone out across the entire occupied republic. According to the local 'authorities,' the cause was an accident in the power grid. Residents of the occupied city of Shchastia report an emergency situation at the local thermal power plant. Local media say the accident led to the shutdown of boiler houses and pumping stations," the message reads.

The head of the self-proclaimed "LPR", Leonid Pasechnik, confirmed a catastrophic situation in the power networks.

It is currently unknown whether the accident was the result of an attack.

As Ukrinform previously reported, about 200,000 residents of the Russian-occupied part of the Luhansk region have been left without water due to the accident.
