On October 29, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Sergiy Boyev  arrived in Romania to discuss the potential for developing military-technical cooperation between the two countries.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this on its website, according to Ukrinform.

The working visit was part of the political and military dialogue between the two states. Its main purpose was to discuss with Romania's Minister of Defence, Liviu-Ionut Mostianu the prospects for enhancing military-technical cooperation and strengthening bilateral defense partnership.

"Ukraine is grateful to Romania for its support and for the development of our security partnership. Special thanks for the previously provided Patriot system and for training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16," Boyev stated.

During the talks, the parties discussed ways to expand cooperation in the defense industry, including joint projects in military research and innovation, as well as training and interaction programs between the armed forces of both countries.

Special attention was given to the joint production of ammunition and FPV drones.

Ukraine also proposed that Romania take part in joint projects in the fields of air and missile defense, naval drones, artillery, and other types of weaponry. The two sides agreed to continue dialogue in order to approve these projects before the funding application deadline within the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) programme.

Boyev expressed hope for a positive decision from the Romanian side regarding the implementation of these proposals.

"Romania remains committed to supporting Ukraine. We are interested in expanding regional production capacities and modernizing the defense industry through joint projects," emphasized Mostianu.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to intensify contacts at the technical and institutional levels and to periodically organize bilateral meetings dedicated to defense industry cooperation.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Mostianu stated that Ukraine remains a top priority for Bucharest and NATO allies, noting that support for Kyiv has continued since the first day of Russia's aggression and will remain steadfast.
