Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Juozas Olekas discussed steps to strengthen sanctions, economic, and diplomatic pressure on Russia during their meeting.

Stefanchuk reported this in a post on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

The discussions focused on further security cooperation, including joint arms production and participation in international coalitions.

Stefanchuk emphasized that this visit by Olekas to Ukraine was his first since taking over the post of Speaker of the Seimas.

During the meeting, the speakers confirmed their shared vision of a just and lasting peace — one that is possible only through increased pressure on the aggressor and effective security guarantees for Ukraine.

Special attention was devoted to European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The parties agreed to intensify the exchange of experience between the parliaments to accelerate Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

"We count on Lithuania's support in opening new negotiation clusters and advancing toward NATO membership," Stefanchuk said.

He reported that Olekas accepted an invitation to take part in the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, scheduled for November 23–24 in Stockholm.

Stefanchuk expressed gratitude to Lithuania for its consistent support of Ukraine in military, humanitarian, and energy spheres, as well as in matters of reconstruction.

Stefanchuk noted that Lithuania ranks among the world's leading countries in terms of assistance relative to GDP, and its contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defense capability has already exceeded EUR 1.8 billion.

As Ukrinform reported, Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Sakaliene announced the country's readiness to allocate EUR 30 million to the PURL initiative.
