Ukraine must adopt a number of legislative changes after receiving an invitation to join the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra stated this in an exclusive comment to Ukrinform.

"The next step after the invitation is the ratification of the Convention and the development of corresponding legislative initiatives that must be submitted to and adopted by parliament so that Ukraine becomes a full member of the OECD," Mudra said.

She emphasized that this decision is the result of nearly three years of systematic state efforts in combating corruption and bribery, as well as evidence of international trust in Ukraine's reform progress.

"This is a very important decision for us. It was adopted unanimously by 36 countries as recognition that Ukraine is genuinely fighting corruption and implementing democratic tools necessary for the harmonization of European anti-corruption legislation with our own," she noted.

According to her, joining the Convention is part of Ukraine's commitments on its path toward EU membership.

Mudra added that the OECD will send Ukraine an official letter with recommendations outlining specific directions for further work. Ukraine's next report to the OECD Working Group on Bribery is scheduled for the end of March 2026.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the OECD Working Group on Bribery decided to invite Ukraine to join the Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions, as well as to become a member of the OECD Working Group on Bribery.
