Zelensky outlines possible funding sources for Tomahawk procurement if decision is approved

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that potential funding for supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine could come from three sources: NATO's PURL program, a "Mega Deal" being negotiated with the United States, and frozen Russian assets.

He made the remarks during a joint press briefing with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

When asked about possible funding options for Tomahawk missiles, Zelensky suggested three options.

"One option is NATO's PURL [Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List] program. Through this mechanism, NATO purchases various types of weapons from the U.S. with its own funds and then transfers to us what we need," Zelensky said.

The second potential source, he added, is a large bilateral agreement with the United States – the "Mega Deal" – negotiations on which are still ongoing.

"The second option is a direct purchase through the Mega Deal. It's a big undertaking, and there's still a way to go," he said.

Zelensky added that funds from frozen Russian assets could also be used for Tomahawk purchases.

"That's definitely a good option," he said, adding that it is still too early to discuss the exact quantities or terms of potential deliveries.

As reported earlier, Trump stated that Ukraine could receive Tomahawk cruise missiles if Russia refuses to pursue a peaceful settlement.
