MoD to transfer its technologies to arms makers to speed up equipment deliveries to front
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"The government has opened the way for manufacturers to use Ministry of Defense technologies. We are launching an experimental mechanism to transfer technologies developed within the Ministry of Defense system into mass production," Shmyhal said.
According to him, these decisions will make it possible to rapidly scale up proven developments across multiple manufacturers simultaneously, with the goal of accelerating the delivery of equipment to the front lines.
Shmyhal outlined the main advantages of the new mechanism, including increased production volumes and faster supply of proven equipment to the front; expansion of the range of weaponry using existing state-developed technologies; and engagement of NATO partners' potential to further improve these technologies through a new export framework.
At the same time, Shmyhal said that the technologies would remain state property, and only vetted manufacturers meeting clear criteria would gain access to them.
"This approach will speed up the development of new prototypes, scale up production, reduce import dependency, and deepen international cooperation. Every proven technology must work to benefit our soldiers and strengthen Ukraine's defense capability," he said.
Ukrinform reported earlier that the Cabinet of Ministers had allocated an additional UAH 36.6 billion to meet the needs of the Ministry of Defense.
