Netherlands launches production of drones, military systems for its armed forces, Ukraine

A large-scale production line for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), drones, and military batteries has officially been launched in Born, Limburg province, the Netherlands.

That is according to Defensemirror.com, Ukrinform reports.

"The Dutch Ministry of Defense has started large-scale production of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), drones and military batteries at the VDL site in Born, South Limburg," the report reads.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with three leading companies, including Milrem Robotics (unmanned ground systems), Tulip Tech (military-use batteries), and DeltaQuad (drones).

All efforts are aimed at strengthening the armed forces of both the Netherlands and Ukraine.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans signed the agreements with the defense technology firms, calling the initiative a necessary acceleration of Europe's defense capacity in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine.

"To continue supporting Ukraine and deter Russia, we need to scale up defense production quickly," Brekelmans said. "This involves innovation and industrialization, speed and scale. With VDL and other modern companies, we can achieve this. VDL is now the flagship of the Dutch defense industry and is operating at full speed."

As reported, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof visited Kyiv on October 6.
