War update: 159 clashes along frontlines over past day, over third in Pokrovsk sector

Over the past day, Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops engaged in 159 combat clashes, with the majority occurring on the Pokrovsk front.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, providing operational information as of 08:00 on Saturday, October 4, according to Ukrinform.

Ukrainian defenders continue to resist enemy advances and inflict significant losses on Russian forces.

According to the General Staff, yesterday Russian forces carried out three missile and 67 air strikes, using 41 missiles and 142 guided aerial bombs. They also deployed 6,264 kamikaze drones, conducted 4,433 shelling incidents, including 93 from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Airstrikes targeted settlements including Kostiantynivka (Donetsk region), Hryhorivka, Lukianivske, Pavlivka, and Komyshuvakha (Zaporizhzhia region), and Olhivka (Kherson region).

Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck 11 enemy targets, including six clusters of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, four artillery systems, and one command post.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight Russian attacks; the Russians conducted 12 airstrikes and 198 shellings (15 from MLRS), using 25 guided bombs.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, 13 Russian attacks were repelled near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Kamianka, and Krasne Pershe.

In the Kupiansk sector, three enemy attacks were repelled near Kupiansk, Radkivka, and Pishchane.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces carried out 12 attacks attempting to breach Ukraine’s defenses near Hrekivka, Karpivka, Serednie, Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, and Torske.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled five Russian attacks near Serebrianka, Vyimka, Pereizne, and toward Yampil and Dronivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, no clashes were reported.

In the Toretsk sector, the Russians launched ten attacks near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, and Poltavka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukraine’s forces halted 56 assaults near Volodymyrivka, Razino, Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, and Filiia.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Russians conducted 28 attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Sosnivka, Vorone, Sichneve, Novoivanivka, and Novohryhorivka, and toward Novomykolaivka.

In the Huliaipole sector, seven Russian attacks were repelled near Poltavka.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces made one attempt to breach defenses toward Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovske sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped one Russian attack.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of enemy offensive groupings were detected.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian forces in manpower from February 24, 2022, to October 4, 2025, have reached approximately 1,114,380 personnel, including 950 eliminated in the past 24 hours.
