Power outages across Ukraine due to Russian strikes, worst hit Sumy, Chernihiv regions
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by NPC Ukrenergo on Facebook.
“As a result of enemy drone attacks, there are power outages in several regions this morning. The most difficult situation is in Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Energy workers are doing their best to restore damaged equipment as quickly as possible. Emergency repair work has already begun. Priority is being given to restoring power for critical infrastructure and household consumers,” the statement said.
It was also reported that as of 9:30 on Thursday, electricity consumption in Ukraine was 2.1% higher than the previous day. The reason is persistent cloudy weather with precipitation across almost the entire country and a significant drop in temperatures in most regions.
“Today, it remains important to use electricity sparingly. Please avoid switching on several powerful appliances simultaneously between 10:00 and 22:00,” Ukrenergo stressed.
As reported, in the evening of October 1, Russia struck the energy infrastructure of the town of Slavutych, leaving the community and parts of Chernihiv region without electricity, and causing a complete blackout at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant for three hours. Scheduled hourly outages were introduced in Chernihiv region.
Due to Russian strikes overnight on October 2, Konotop and Shostka districts of Sumy region were partially left without electricity. Energy infrastructure in Odesa region was also targeted.
