EU condemns Russian strike on humanitarian demining mission near Chernihiv

The European Union has responded to the Russian attack on workers of a humanitarian demining mission in Kyselivka community near Chernihiv.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas wrote on X that such attacks constitute a grave violation of international law, Ukrinform reports.

“The death of Danish aid workers in a missile strike underscores the brutality of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Attacks on humanitarian missions are a grave violation of international law,” Kallas emphasized.

She added that the EU remains steadfast in supporting Ukraine and will hold those responsible accountable.

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos described the Russian strike as “another brutal attack by Russia against civilian targets in Ukraine.”

“It is a deliberate attack on peace and recovery. The EU stands with Ukraine: for safety, dignity and a European future,” she wrote on X.

Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that it had delivered a note of protest to Russia over its bombings of Ukraine.

“Today Lithuania delivered a protest note to Russia over its continued brutal bombings of Ukraine. Every day, Moscow continues its path of cruelty, bloodshed and terror, showing no interest in peace. Lithuania will continue to stand with Ukraine,” the ministry wrote on X.

As reported, Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that the Russian missile strike on the humanitarian demining mission near Chernihiv killed two people and injured five others. The strike targeted the area near a checkpoint at the entrance to the village of Novoselivka.
