Ukrainian air defense destroys over 6,300 Russian targets in August

In August 2025, Ukraine’s air defense forces destroyed 6,346 Russian targets.

The figures were reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Throughout August 2025, the Defense Forces’ air defense units destroyed 6,346 aerial targets, including: 5 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aero-ballistic missiles; 55 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles; 20 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles; 20 Kalibr cruise missiles; 4 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles; 9 Iskander-K cruise missiles; 2,129 Shahed-type strike UAVs; 930 reconnaissance UAVs; 3,174 other types of UAVs,” the statement reads.

The Air Force also reported conducting 651 sorties during the month, including approximately 430 for fighter aircraft coverage and over 150 for strike missions and air support for ground forces.

In addition to aerial combat, Ukrainian aviation destroyed 438 aerial targets, struck command posts, logistics hubs, and concentrations of enemy personnel and equipment.

As previously reported, on the night of August 31, Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 76 out of 86 drones launched by Russian forces.
