Russian army lost nearly 29,000 troops in August – CinC Syrskyi

In August 2025 alone, Russian military personnel losses in the war against Ukraine totaled 28,790, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

As reported by Ukrinform, Syrskyi shared this information on Facebook, along with a short video.

“Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to eliminate the Russian invaders, bringing our country closer to a just peace,” Syrskyi stated.

He emphasized that the losses in manpower for Russian occupying forces in August amounted to 28,790 troops.

Syrskyi also expressed gratitude to Ukrainian soldiers for their professionalism.

According to Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, through September 1, 2025, have reached 1,082,990 personnel, including 850 killed or wounded in the past 24 hours.
