Ukraine strikes Syzran oil refinery in Russia, General Staff confirms

This was reported on Facebook by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to Ukrinform.

“Hits and detonations have been recorded in the area of the facility. Assessment of the damage is ongoing,” the statement reads.

The Syzran refinery has a design capacity of up to 8.5 million tons of oil per year, representing approximately 3.08% of Russia’s total oil refining capacity.

The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and other petroleum products, which are supplied to Russian military units.

“The Defense Forces of Ukraine systematically carry out actions aimed at reducing the combat potential of Russian troops, destabilizing their logistical capabilities — particularly in fuel and lubricants — and compelling Russia to cease armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff stated.

As previously reported, the same night, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, struck the Ust-Luga sea terminal used by Russia to circumvent international sanctions as well as several other logistic facilities of the Russian forces.
