DM Shmyhal discusses Ukraine-NATO defense cooperation with Rutte
He announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“I am pleased to welcome NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to Kyiv. We had a substantive and meaningful dialogue on defense cooperation between Ukraine and the Alliance,” Shmyhal said.
He emphasized: “I highly appreciate Mark Rutte's leadership in launching Alliance initiatives to support our country. In particular, within the framework of the PURL mechanism, developed jointly with NATO and the US, approximately $1.5 billion in military aid has already been mobilized.”
According to Shmyhal, in this context, it is important to continue productive cooperation within the Coalition of the Willing.
Shmyhal and Rutte also discussed preparations for the next Ramstein meeting and the future strengthening of NATO's role.
“We coordinated issues related to the financing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the development of the defense industry. Our priorities are clear: achieving NATO standards, integrating into global supply chains, and introducing innovations and technologies that have been tested in combat,” Shmyhal emphasized.
He thanked NATO and the Secretary General for their strong and unwavering support for Ukraine.
“Together, we are building a peaceful and secure future for future generations,” Shmyhal emphasized.
