The percentage of foreigners serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has increased significantly. As of today, citizens from 72 countries serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, of which about 40% are representatives of South America.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Hromadske, citing the acting Head of the Department for Coordinating Military Service by Foreigners in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kostyantyn Milevskyi.

"According to our data, people from 72 countries serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As of now, about 40% are exclusively representatives of South America," Milevskyi said.

He noted that while at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 100-150 foreigners joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine per month, this figure has now increased to 600. As of now, a total of more than 8,000 volunteers from other countries have joined the ground forces. According to Milevskyi, this was facilitated by the full-fledged work of the Foreigners Recruitment Center and the state's assistance in relocating those who wish to resist Russian aggression to Ukraine.

According to Milevskyi, the provisions and social guarantees for foreign volunteers are at the same level as for Ukrainian citizens.

“I repeat everywhere and everywhere: all foreigners who have decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the moment they sign the contract. And they receive the same salary and additional payments as we do. Social, legal, and material support are absolutely identical,” he assured.

As reported by Ukrinform, on May 7, the Cabinet of Ministers renewed the Interagency Working Group for Improving the recruitment of foreigners to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will include representatives of several ministries and departments.
