On Sunday, drone attacks in Russia's Leningrad region led to the temporary suspension of airport operations, while local residents reported disruptions to mobile internet service.

That is according to the Telegram channel Astra, Ukrinform reports.

Residents reported sightings of drones over the cities of Gatchina and Vsevolozhsk, as well as in the areas of Kronstadt and the Volosovsky district. Some eyewitnesses also mentioned hearing explosions and suggested drones might have been shot down.

Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed a drone threat, which resulted in a temporary halt to departures and landings at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. More than 70 flights were delayed or canceled.

Additionally, mobile internet in St. Petersburg effectively stopped working following the drone alert.

Later, Rosaviatsiya (Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency) announced that flights from Pulkovo had resumed. However, temporary airspace restrictions in the Leningrad region affected air traffic to Kaliningrad, causing changes to the schedule at Khrabrovo Airport as well.

Governor Drozdenko reported drone debris falling in the Kingiseppsky district and in an industrial zone in Primorsk, Vyborg district.
