Russian troops test new UMPB‑5 ammunition in Ukraine for two months
This was stated in a comment to a Ukrinform correspondent by Spartak Borysenko, head of the department for combating crimes committed in conditions of armed conflict at the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
"The UMPB-5 is a new type of ammunition that the Russians began using about two months ago. Its first use in Ukraine was recorded in the Sumy region. In Kharkiv, it was first used on July 24. They are still testing it, and its exact characteristics are not yet known. We know that the ammunition has a range of about 100 kilometers. UMPB D-30 was launched from about 80 kilometers," Borysenko said.
According to him, the new inter-species gliding munition is more powerful.
“According to preliminary data, its warhead weighs 250 kilograms. The D-30 UMPA has a warhead weighing 100 kilograms. In addition, a completely different metal is used for the body, and the fragments found show that the body is thicker,” the representative of the prosecutor's office emphasized.
As reported, at around 11:30 a.m. on July 25, Russian troops struck the Industrial District of Kharkiv with two guided bombs. One of the bombs hit the regional tuberculosis hospital No. 3, where patients and staff were present. A total of 17 people were injured.
On the afternoon of July 24, two guided aerial bombs hit the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv, causing fires in two industrial and warehouse buildings, as well as burning cars. Forty-three people were injured. Twenty apartment buildings and an electrical substation were damaged.
The bombs were launched by Su-34 aircraft from the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
