Along the border in Chernihiv region, Russian forces are not conducting operations involving infantry groups.

That is according to Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who spoke live on television, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“It’s important to understand that, for example, along the border in Chernihiv region, the enemy is not carrying out actions such as deploying infantry groups or anything similar,” Demchenko stated.

He added that the situation is different in Sumy region, particularly within the Yunakivka and Khotin communities, where Russian infantry groups are attempting to enter Ukrainian territory. However, Ukrainian soldiers are eliminating these enemy infantry units by the dozens — both killed and wounded.

According to Demchenko, border guards are also observing similar enemy activity in Kharkiv region, especially in the direction of Vovchansk and toward the village of Stroivka, where units of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service are deployed. In those areas, the enemy is attempting actions using infantry groups.

“Therefore, in the sectors where the enemy employs infantry groups, they also maintain the bulk of their forces and resources on their side of the border. But even now, as we see, despite outnumbering us, the enemy cannot achieve any significant results or advance deeper into our territory,” Demchenko emphasized.

As previously reported, on July 24, Demchenko stated that the enemy is using small infantry groups and sabotage-reconnaissance groups (SRGs) in Sumy region, and similarly operating in Chernihiv region.
