Pro-Russian sympathizer jailed for leaking air defense data in southern Ukraine

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) in Cherkasy region via Facebook.

“Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, a collaborator has been sentenced to 5.3 years in prison for spreading information about the locations of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in the southern region. The SSU counterintelligence detained the offender in April last year, after he handed over intelligence about the deployment of air defense radar stations in Odesa region,” the statement reads.

According to the investigation, the man was a 48-year-old resident of Cherkasy and an ideological supporter of "rashism" (Russian fascism).

After the full-scale invasion by Russia, the man hoped that his “work” would be noticed by the occupiers. For this reason, he began collecting information on the locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces. He then made the gathered data publicly accessible.

In addition, the suspect denied the fact of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and promoted hostile narratives in his communications.

The court found him guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, relocation, or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law and justification, recognition as lawful, denial of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, and glorification of its participants.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has uncovered and detained two Russian agents in Odesa region who were preparing a missile strike on a storage facility containing ammonium nitrate at one of the seaports.
